I started with Starbucks after finishing high school never realizing how big of an impact it would have on my life. I have met my closest friends, both partners and regulars, from the stores I have been a part of. I have learned how to work with many individuals of all sorts of backgrounds and to work collectively in creating the third place we all need. Starbucks has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.

 

The Starbucks College Achievement Plan has given me the opportunity to find a passion in learning again; something for which I will be forever grateful. I have had the ability to view the company's impact on our communities across the country and I see Starbucks from the side of the consumer as well as a partner, something which I consider a unique asset which I will bring to this internship - Starbucks is my third place.

 

While in school, I obtained a good understanding of information sorting for website needs and have become proficient in Adobe XD, Sketch, Axure, and Invision. Beyond the purely technical, I feel I have many more unique and relevant skills that I will bring to the position. For example, I am skilled with using UI design tools and have the ability to not only learn but incorporate new technologies, concepts and designs into iterative work.

 

Approaching problems with a user first mentality is something that has become second nature to me through my many years in the service industry. As a result, I am comfortable and adept at working in a fast-paced environment and have refined my verbal and written communication.
